Getting Around The City

The central hub of Pool Meadow station means that you’ll have all the bus routes you’ll ever need to navigate the city. Not that you’ll need buses. Our properties sit in fantastic locations, so everything you could want is almost always within walking distance.

For travel to other areas of the city and also across the country, the newly refurbished Coventry train station has great rail links to London and Birmingham. Trains to and from these stations run regularly, which makes travelling a breeze.

Student life in the city is quickly developing, with many new student-focused businesses opening up in the city. This is in part due to the growth and popularity of both Coventry University and the University of Warwick.

The interesting thing about Coventry is the mixture of its rich historical heritage and its modern, forward-thinking spirit. They’re both perfectly reflected in Coventry’s architecture, which is a beautiful combination of old and new.

The original cathedral of the city was destroyed during the second world war, and instead of clearing the site for another cathedral to be built, the modern cathedral was built adjoining the ruins of the old cathedral. Located just outside of Coventry University, this blend of the old into the new is the perfect backdrop for your studies.

Things To Do in Coventry

The city of Coventry is jam-packed with things to do and is fast becoming one of the most up-and-coming cities in the UK. From local sports teams, exciting nightlife, and an arts scene to rival much larger cities, Coventry really does have it all going on.

Just outside of the city centre, and past Foleshill Road (which is packed to the brim with amazing Indian/Pakistani supermarkets) is the CBS Arena, more commonly referred to as the Ricoh by locals.  The CBS Arena plays host to Coventry City FC, who play their home games at this ground. As a team quickly on the rise, we highly recommend heading to the ground to catch a game if you can. 

During the off-season, the arena has seen some of the biggest musical acts in the world today. In recent years, the arena has seen the likes of The Killers, The Rolling Stones, and the Spice Girls all performing. With Harry Styles and the Arctic Monkeys both booked in to play during 2023, you can be certain this venue’s great musical history is set to continue.

Get To Know This Amazing City

The city centre has enjoyed an upsurge in renovations over more recent times as a result of the city being awarded the title UK City of Culture 2021.

This has meant a lot of new and exciting venues and facilities have been opening up all over the city. There have been new additions to nightlife with club and music venue, ‘The HMV Empire’ opening its doors recently. The newly redeveloped Broadgate area is home to some student haunts such as ‘The Botanist’ and ‘Boom Battle Bar’ along with many other bars.

If the arts scene is something you’d like to explore, then FarGo Village is definitely for you. A 15-minute walk from Paradise Student Village, FarGo hosts regular events that are perfect for students, such as a vegan food market and vintage kilo sales. Besides this, there are more permanent boutique shops and cafés open during the week.
