When should I start looking for student accommodation?

This is a question we get asked a lot! Where you live at uni is such an important part of the overall student experience, so don’t leave finding your perfect home till the last minute. Give yourself plenty of time to do your research and explore the best living offers – to help you out, check out our advice on timings below.

First-Year Students

For those of you who have unconditional offers, you’re in luck! You can book your student accommodation with confidence and we advise you to get it booked as soon as possible to get the biggest choice of rooms and benefit from the best rates.

What if I don’t have a confirmed offer yet?

If you don’t have a confirmed place yet and are waiting on your grades, don’t worry! We know everything feels a little uncertain now, but AXO has you covered on this front. Here at AXO, we have a ‘No place, no fee’ policy meaning we’ll refund your deposit should you not achieve your expected results and your plans therefore change. Remember, not all student accommodation providers offer such flexible cancellation policies, so be sure to double-check this with the one you choose before booking.

Some apartments and studios are so popular that they get sold out even before A-level results day. So as soon as you have decided on your first choice university, get searching for your dream home! With deposits as low as £100, you don’t have to fork out too much to reserve your student living.

Viewings

Second Year Students

You’re now ready to move on from your first student apartment, but when should you start looking for your next one? Private student halls tend to open up for sale for the next academic year around October or November time and often start advertising plenty of great offers and the lowest rates.

You’ll already know the city you’ll be staying in by then so will have a good idea of where you’d ideally like to live. Our advice is to book in October or November so you can take advantage of many early booking benefits such as:

• The best choice of room types
• The best choice of floor, view etc (trust us, that morning sunlight definitely helps you drag yourself out of bed)
• Group booking deals so you can live with your mates and pay less (win-win)
