What types of postgraduate programmes are there?
The most popular ones are:
- Master’s degree: in-depth studies made up of lectures, seminars, a dissertation and potentially research.

- Postgraduate diploma: 30 weeks of studying, no dissertation.
- Postgraduate certificate: 15 weeks, no dissertation.
- Postgraduate Professional Development: completed over two years (you can complete it as fast or slow within the two years).
How to apply for a postgraduate degree in the UK
There are two ways you can apply for your postgraduate programme in the UK, the first is direct to the university and the second is through Myriad by UCAS.
Whichever application route you choose make sure you submit your application a few months before the deadline, this is because popular courses fill up quickly.
Once the university accepts you should apply for your Tier 4 visa.
What are the entry requirements?
To be able to study for a postgraduate degree you’ll have to complete a Secure English Language test. To be accepted for postgraduate study you’ll be expected to have a 2:1 in your undergraduate degree or equivalent.
Finding accommodation
If you have family or friends who have previously or are currently studying here, make sure you speak to them about their accommodation experience. This will help you decide what sort of accommodation you want to live in.
