Things to do near AXO Islington

AXO Islington is located on Holloway Road which is a 10 minute walk from Holloway Road and Archway underground stations making travel very easy and accessible. 

Travel

The Northern Line which runs through Archway Underground station is a 24 hour train line alongside the number 43 bus which works as a great alternative to paying for a taxi every time you go out!

You can also catch the Piccadilly Line which is 15 minutes away from Central London connecting you to different areas in London.

Food and drink (our favourite topic)

Across the road from AXO Islington: Owl and Hitchhiker which won the Design My Night 2018/19 award for best pub in North London. Owl and Hitchhiker is a trendy pub home to a variety of food, drinks and if you’re after vegan food or responsibly sourced meat then this is the place for you!

1 minute walk: La Scelta offers Italian, Moroccan, Mediterranean, vegan, vegetarian, helal and gluten free options- is there anything they don’t do! Rating on Tripadvisor for food, service and value is 5 stars suggesting that it’s definitely worth a try.

8 minute walk: Coffee House 607, let’s talk about coffee, ethical coffee that is. Coffee House 607 believe in benefitting farmers and small business within the coffee industry and provide “healthy and hearty breakfasts and friendly customer service”. 

Running from lectures to seminars can get very tiring so it’s important to start your day with good breakfast and coffee (if you’re a coffee drinker). It is important to take care of yourself and a good start to the day always helps.

3 minute walk- Dominos, every student’s favourite Pizza place. The great thing about Dominos is that if you don’t want to walk for 3 minutes (we won’t judge you) you can order it for delivery!

7 minute walk: Indian Ocean Tandoori Restaurant if it’s your first time living in the UK, you will notice our love for curry. If you’re looking for a mid-week treat, a tasty one at that, then you should add Indian Ocean to your list of restaurants to try.

Keeping fit

Across the road: Pure gym, Looking to get healthy before the end of the year? Pure Gym is conveniently located across the road which means you can go before lectures or after (leaving less for excuses aha). Did you know that they even have a 50% off your first month and £0 joining fee!

Grocery shopping 

Across the road: Sainsbury’s Sainsbury’s is open from 7am-11pm and is located across the road which means you can grab your last minute bits without any hassle. 

One of the hardest things about moving out for University is grocery shopping as carrying all your products is not the easiest thing to do! Luckily here at AXO Islington you only need to cross the road making grocery shopping less of a stress.

Seven Sisters Road

If you are looking more culture and variety then we suggest visiting Seven Sisters Road. There you have Kebab shops, Butchers, independent shops and supermarkets. 

Banks, Most things are now easily done online but if you still need to open a student account or would like to speak to your bank then check out Seven Sisters Road, chances are your bank has a branch there! 

Fast Food stores, though we don’t suggest eating fast food every day, we understand that sometimes you want to have a cheat meal, especially after a long day of Uni. Seven Sisters Road has a selection of McDonalds, Subway, KFC and many more independent food stores in which you can enjoy a cheeky cheat meal!

Poundland and pound stores, more often than not Poundland and Pound stores will have a version of the goods you are looking for. If you are especially buying products that you need for this year then we suggest you check out the pound stores. It’s a good way of saving some coins! 

Other 

Primrose Hill: a beautiful view of London, one where there’s just as many trees as buildings and a relaxing walk around Regent’s Park is a perfect way of ending a week full of University. 

Union Chapel: fancy doing something a little different and going to a daylight gig? From music, comedy and special events Union Chapel offers its viewers a great show in its gothic church! 

Finsbury Park: did you know that there is an abandoned railway line that ran between Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace? Finsbury Park not only offers amazing nature but also a little spooky blast from the past railway line. It’s something to do if you’re after a weekend adventure. 

Odeon Cinema: a cinema with all the latest films, for those of you who is after a more relaxed evening. 

The option for every occasion is endless when you are located in a great area! With local restaurants and bars at your doorstep to a 10 minute walk to a train station that will connect you to the rest of London at any time you like!
